Blind Scrapping at D2U Scrapbooking

Finally got a chance to play.. Managed to get two LO's done with the Blind Scrapping that was set by Marisa earlier this month. Loved this challenge as it was the first blind scrap I had ever done. Was heaps of fun to play around with these. Also loved seeing the LO's created by everyone else that participated. Have created two very different looks from the same challenge.

So here they are:

Think I will try blind scrapping again.

Fiskars February Inspiration Challenge - Siblings

Today's challenge on the Fiskars ANZ blog was a perfect way for me to record special moments between my two youngest children. I had the perfect photo of the two of them when they first met to play with also.

Some of you may remember the lovely bunch of flowers that were sent to me by the Fiskars Ambassador and Head Office.

Well I had mentioned that I was going to keep the paper from the flowers to scrap with as it was so yummy. I finally got to play with some of it on this layout. It matched perfectly with the Heidi Grace Urban Acres Flocked Dots paper. I loved mixing up the media in this one and love how it turned out. So much fun thinking outside the box.

So here's what I created:

Layout - Big Sister

Journalling Reads:
"When we found out we were having another baby, we weren't sure how you would take not being the centre of attention. You were the youngest and very cheeky for 18months. You also didn't like to share and liked to be boss of the house. We bought you a baby doll and pram to help you gt used to the fact there was a new baby coming. You hated the doll and pushed the pram around with Woofy, your dog in it instead. We really didn't know what to expect when you came in to meet your new sister for the first time. We needed to not have worried... You welcomed her with open arms and a big cuddle."

Products used: Heidi Grace PP - Urban Acres Range, Heidi Grace - Ribbon Stazon Ink - Black, Journalling Pen, Grant Archival CS, Gemstones, Dimensional Magic, Blue Marker, Chipboard Flourish, Heidi Grace Clear stamp, Staples, Heidi Grace Flowers and brad, Metal Embellishment, Other Ribbon, Plastic from Flower Arrangement, Note paper.

Why not give this challenge a try.

Fiskars February Inspiration Challenge - Pink and Green Colour Combo

When I saw this challenge I just knew I would have to give it a try. I really wanted to use these colours, but not in traditional pink and green colours... if you know what I mean. For my first LO I played around with a real dull olive green, maroon and girly pink to create a LO of my newest addition, Tarryn. It turned out the way I had hoped and really isn't a traditional baby LO either, which is what I love about it.

For the second LO I went for a real bright girly pink, Olive green and lime green. This worked really well with the pictures I had of Kiah. I loved using up scraps and mixing things up in this LO.

So here's they are:

Layout 1 - The Day You Came =Loved playing around with this one. Set myself a challenge with this colour combination and went for different shades of green and pink, using an olive green with a bright girly pink and maroon type pink contrast. Really loved how this turned out. Also got to finally use the clothing tag with the flourish from Cotton on Kids, I had been hanging onto for that special LO.

Products used: Heidi Grace PP - Urban Acres Range, Heidi Grace - Urban Acres Rubons, Heidi Grace - Urban Acres Glittered Shapes (Flower, Heidi Grace - Urban Acres Sticker Words, Heidi Grace - Stitched Border clear stamps, Stazon Ink - Black, Journalling Pen, Grant Archival CS, Kindy Glitz, Dimensional Magic, Black Permanent Marker, Cloud 9 Alphabet Stickers, Mixed Heidi Grace Ribbons, Other Ribbon, Chipboard Bookplate, Date Stamp, Clothing Tag.

Layout 2 - Adore U = This layout was made using a DT kit from Direct2UScrapbooking and my own stash. When I received the kit I knew the Heidi Grace glittered Baby Girl Paper would be perfect for this. Loved mixing this one up a bit with all different scraps of paper and the Heidi Swapp tapes.

From my stash: Heidi Grace pp - Baby Girl - Glittered, Heidi Grace Chipboard Scroll, Heidi Grace Clear Scroll Stamps, Stazon Ink - Black, MM Noteworthy Journal Block, Heidi Grace Chipboard Shapes,Kaiser Pearls and Gemstones, Acetate, Journalling Pen, Kaiser Flourish Journal and Mixed Clear Stamps,Cloud 9 quote sticker, Heidi Grace Alpha Stickers.

Why not give this colour combination a try and see what you come up with.

Fiskars Inspiration Challenge - Questions and Answers

This was the perfect challenge to record some things about my eldest daughter, Jhane, before time slips away from us completely. Being 11 years old I don't seem to get as many photos of her as I would like. Since we bought her a camera for her birthday, she is usually on the other side of the camera. She has the same love as me with taking photos and scrapbooking them.

I loved the idea of this challenge and set about getting her to answer the questions that I chose for the LO. It is funny to see her answers to the questions. Must do this for all the kids. Would be a great thing to do also a few years down the track too to see how much they have changed their ideas.

So here it is:

Layout - You

Journalling Reads:
1. What is your Nickname? Ducky
2. What is your favourite lolly? Starburst Snakes and Lolly pops
3. What is your favourite TV Show? Home and Away and Roller Coaster
4. If you had a million dollars what would you buy? An Apple Ipod, Nintendo DS and presents for my family.5. What do you like to eat for lunch? Salad Sandwiches and Noodles
6. What's the best present you have received? MP3 Player

Products used: Heidi Grace PP - Urban Acres Range, Heidi Grace - Urban Acres Rubons, Heidi Grace Acrylic Alphas, Heidi Grace - Stitched Border clear stamps, Stazon Ink - Timber, Versamark ink - Pinecone, Journalling Pen, Grant Archival CS, Kindy Glitz, Ribbon, Flowers, Date Stamp, Staples, Heidi Grace - Urban Acres Glitter Stickers, MM Noteworthy Paper, Flower Brad.

Thanks for looking,

Fiskars February Inspiration Challenge - My Family

Seeings as how we have a new arrival in our family I wanted to get this challenge done to record it. Mind you I never knew how hard it would be to get four kids, aged 11 years, 5 years, 22 month and 3 weeks all together for a photo. If it wasn't for crying, looking the wrong way, sleeping or the baby being mauled to death by Kiah, we would have the perfect photo. But sometimes it isn't about the "perfect" photo... I think that it is more important to just record the moment. So I thought that I would give it a try and managed to find one half decent photo to scrap.

So here's what I managed to come up with:

Layout - Family Fun Together

Journalling Reads:
"It may not be a real good photo, but it is the first photo we have of you all. It is certainly a hard thing to do. Jan '09"

Products used: Heidi Grace PP - Urban Acres Range, Heidi Grace - Clear stamp, Stazon Ink - Black, Journalling Pen, Versamark Ink - Pinecone, Grant Archival CS, Gemstones, Cloud 9 Chipboard Alphas, Dimensional Magic, Black Permanent Marker, Cloud 9 Alphabet Stickers, Kaiser Felt Flowers, Black Buttons, Sequin Flowers, Black Beads.

Why not give this a try and record your special family moments too.

Just Because....

A few weeks ago I was able to finally scrap some photos for an online challenge on the Direct 2 U Scrapbooking forum of my youngest daughter.

Here's the criteria we were set for creating the layout...

1. 4 or more photos

2. colour rub ons

3. doodling - freehand/hand drawn

4. stitching - machine or hand stitched

Here's what I came up with:

Layout - Just New

Products used: Heidi Grace PP - Love Blossoms Range, Heidi Grace - Rubons, White Journalling Pen for Doodling, Stazon Ink - Black, Bazzill CS, Gemstones, Dimensional Magic, Red Permanent Marker, Chipboard Alphas, Heidi Grace Clear Stamps, Embroidery Floss, Heidi Grace Metal Embellishment Stickers.

I know this is an older range from Heidi Grace.. but I love the mix of pink and red. I also love doodling with it and mixing it all together with black. They all seem to work well together.

Just thought I would share it all with you.

Cheers, M x

Help needed ! Victoria Fire Victims !

If your looking to help out the Victorian Fire Victims then this is a perfect way. I am hoping to get some done today. Am looking through my Fiskars Cupboard as we speak. I am sure that everyone out there has a few things they could chuck together to help this cause out. Here's the details:

Well girls, I have got only one thing to say to you all:

YOU ARE A BUNCH OF ABSOLUTE LEGENDS AND YOU SHOULD ALL BE BRONZED AND GIVEN A PACK OF NEVERENDING TIM TAMS AND A JAMIE DURIE LOOK-A-LIKE TO FEED THEM TO YOU!!

Seriously, the response to this project has been humungous and incredible, to say the least. At first I was looking at putting together maybe 100 albums and I thought that might be stretching things a bit - now I think we could possibly put together over 500 albums. I mean it - and the list of helpers gets bigger by the hour!

So far I have several hundred offers of LO’s as well as albums from the wholesalers such as Aussie Scrap Source and Lulu’s as well as Mette from Melbourne who is donating a huge supply of albums - you rock! Not to mention the wonderful Scrapping stores that have come on board as collection points and who are holding Crop Nights as well as mailing me the LO’s en masse. I think you are just AWESOME. Really, you bring tears to my eyes.

If you are thinking of still contributing PLEASE DO SO as the more LO’s we receive, the more albums we can put together. There were 1069 houses lost, so that means we need 1069 albums.

I will keep updating with the count of how many albums we have and how many more we need, ok?

For those of you who would like to drop off your albums, you are more than welcome to approach the following stores:

You can send your LO’s to Kristin NO LATER than Feb 28th in order to make the plane on time. Please be aware that there is a limit to how many Kristin can bring over (due to weight), so be advised that I may have to close off the drop off point if there are too many and you will have to post as normal.

I will have Drop Off Points established soon for all Sydney Metro Regions. Please keep checking back on this Blog for more details, ok?!

Very soon I will have some photos to show you of my lounge room which has now become the “Headquarters” of this project. We are accepting LO’s and albums from overseas as well - so if you are reading this from another part of the world, please pitch in! So far we have LO’s coming in from North America, Canada, Hawaii, New Zealand, Malaysia, the Phillipines, Dubai, the Netherlands, the UK, Italy and Spain. WOOHOO!

I am planning on visiting my Post Office tomorrow (first to set up an account and second to apologise for all the extra work he’s going to have over the next month lol).

The next step in this process is to please keep getting the word out! Any of you who think we have enough support, please send us your LO’s. I would dearly love to give every displaced family at least one album - maybe more if we can manage it.

So if you would still like to contribute, please do so by leaving me a comment at the end of this post and will get back to you ASAP

Many thanks to you all for being such an awesome bunch of supporters - well done!

Craft Kits Needed !

Received this email from Julie to thank me for creating 150 LO's for SCKC this year. Thought I would share it all with you as they are calling out for help with the craft kits for the Victoria Fire Victims. I know I have plenty in my stash that could help out other and kow that I will be send some.

Hi,

I drafted a happy letter below to send out to you to say Thanks for your wonderful contribution to SCKC, we have reached our target for 2009 through your incredible support, I still want you to receive that (see below) but with the awful disaster that has hit our fellow Aussies in Victoria i have an URGENT appeal for the Children that are suffering so very much, I read an email from a yahoo site, Karen Rogers is urgently asking for craft items for the children to make kits, they are severely traumatized and professionals involved in their care are of the belief that they need to channel their distress via drawing and craft creation.........Please read below and see if their is any goodies in your stash you may be willing to donate, I am happy to receive stuff and send it off or you can email Karen direct......PLEASE HELP, these children are every bit as deserving as the kids of SCKC....... An excerpt from Karens email......

Hi Ladies

.....I have been keeping in very close touch with my best friend who is a Manager for a Community Support and Counseling centre in NE Victoria, and she has been, for their organization, in charge of co-coordinating support and counselling for many of the children who have been horrendously affected by this disaster. She is a specialist Child support worker and child psychologist, and I talked with her late tonight about the children and how they are doing, and the various thoughts that have been suggested here on Stamphappy. I in no way want to detract from the wonderful sentiments and suggestions by any of you girls, because I truly believe that at the right time, gifts of stamping/scrapbooking supplies will be incredibly treasured and gratefully received by all or some of the victims.

Tonight however, Kath talked to me about the need to meet some needs of the children, and how children have a need to be busy in the face of trauma and disaster - or at least have the wherewithal to do so when they feel a need to. This might mean several hours a day for them, or could even just be 15 mins. at a time. Particularly for girls, but also for boys, they have a need to create as this is a very integral way of expressing their emotions and feelings, and very much is a coping mechanism for them. She explained
to me that while at this time, crafting is not going to be any kind of a priority for the parents, for all the very valid and critical reasons Kath H. shared with us, on the other hand, it could and would be a huge help for the children right now.

We talked at length, and with her input and thought and professional understanding firsthand of what they are dealing with in terms of helping the children to work through their own trauma, and have the needs to do so, I promised her that I would do what I could to focus some giving particularly on the children in this respect, and she will ensure that it gets to the children individually.

So.I am humbly seeking your help in any way, big or small to enable us to touch the lives of these dear young children (and others maybe not so young, as there are young teenagers in there as well) Any donations you might be able to round up would be gratefully accepted and appreciated. Anything will go to creating fun and interesting kits for these children. Stamp Pads - dye ink only at this time as they won't need adult supervision to utilise them, cardstock, papers, glue, double sided tape, pens, pencils, markers, stickers, rub-on's, scissors, cutting mats, cutters, stamps, embellishments, brown paper bags with handles for kits( I have some already and will buy some more, ribbons, cords, punches..anything at all would be ever so much appreciated. I have begun to put some bags together with my stuff, and hope that you might be able to help me put together a substantial number of kits so that we can hopefully make enough to cover all the children (approx 300). At this point, I am not real sure how many children are
affected..but Kath tells me it is lots and they have been run off their feet this week counselling and supporting the kids.

I will be going to Melbourne to see her in 3 weeks, and would love to fill suitcases with kits to give her, and she will ensure they get distributed to the kids. I will happily pay excess baggage if I need to , to get them all to her - now I am thinking positive J!!!!

If you can donate anything at all, it will all go to help these beautiful children who have so many needs, both physical and material, but also
emotional at this time.

My address is for donations is: PO Box 75, Campbell Town. Tasmania 7210

kdrogers07@bigpond.com

I realise that 3 weeks doesn't leave a whole lot of time to pull this together, but please, at least think about whether you can help. If
donations come in after the 3 weeks, I will continue to put the kits together and undertake to send them on to Kath each time I have 10 ready to

go.

Thankyou for reading this far, and thankyou for caring, as we all do, for all the victims of this tragic situation.

Optimistically preparing to help in the small way I can..please join me.

Smiles and hugs

Karen Rogers

Hello.....

I hope you had a beautiful Christmas and New Year and your looking forward to what 2009 will bring!

I am pleased to let you know that we have almost gathered through your incredible generosity, enough pages to fulfill not only the needs of the 8 SCKC camps for 2009 but also enough to help out an Australian guy who is living in Columbia with 20 odd orphaned boys. Your contribution has meant that over 270 children will now have gorgeous Memory Albums that will anchor potentially their only childhood photos and memories of a happy & playful week away.

Once again I am most grateful and left wishing you could experience the reaction of the children and their buddies to your incredible creative generosity.
SCKC Casey, Emerald, Knox and Dunedin (NZ) are all over for 2009 we still have another 5 to go and I am busy sorting your LO's & packing the needed kits for the camps coming up soon. I have updated my blog with comments from two of the Directors and hope to add photos soon, we have also had a few buddies add their comments of appreciation.

Please feel free to continue sending pages you have created or plan to, even though we are close to our target for this year we will continue to sort and package your LO's for the camps beyond 2009, with your continued support we will be able to ensure that as SCKC camps grow and multiply within Australia & New Zealand, the children's Memory Albums will remain the same, full of creative love that reminds them each and every day, that even as strangers we think they arte worthy.

THANKS FROM ALL OF US!!

Take care and God Bless you all.

Jules X

PS Check out http://www.sckc.org.au If you feel you would like to get involved in other ways to help ensure we can reach more and more children in the years to
come

Why not raid your stash and see what you can come up with.

Cheers M x
