Clowning Around

I love being able to catch my family doing silly things. I love even more being able to record these things when I scrap. I am not one to scrap for an occasion but more so to scrap for the moment, if you know what I mean. I like to capture the special times we share and the funny things that make us happy.

This particular photo shows the fun that my kids have with their Dad. I cherish the fact that he has taught them to laugh at themselves and be themselves no matter what. I think that is a very special thing.

So here it is:

Rectangle Fever

Tried something different with this layout. Have been playing with 8.5 x 11" layouts lately and wanted to be able to include multiple photos on this size. It can be a bit challenging as I didn't really want to make the photos too small. So all I did was crop the main picture into a rectangle and used this as the base. I then cut my remaining photos to fit the space left. Using patterned paper I filled in the cardstock spaces with rectangle to "fill" in the rest. If that makes sense...lol... The papers I was using worked so well for the subject and colours of the layout. I am happy with the end result and I managed to get 3 decent size photos onto an 8.5x 11" layout. YEAH !!

Maybe you like the pink & aqua? Perhaps you prefer the black & white. Will you combine the colours? Do you have photos from the 50’s? Will you use the poster as a sketch and place your photos around the frame? Surprise me with your creativity.

**Melody's Challenge is for the year 1970.**

Do a layout about a either yourself as a child or someone else in your family for the year 1970.

* the colour brown and cream is to be used.

as well as:

* stamping
* a tag
* title
* flowers
* bling

Scallops Here, Scallops There !

I had a few scraps of patterned paper lying around on my desk that I just couldn't part with... you know the deal.. So I pulled out my Fiskars Threaded Water punch and had a play with the scraps. Cut some of the patterned paper with my trimmer into strips to mix it up a little. Grabbed a photo of my daughter I had been wanting to play with for a while and threw this together. With the larger scallop I had originally used the Fiskars Threaded water punch and then re punched each of the smaller holes using my Fiskars 1/4" circle hand punch. It was easy to do as I was able to see where I was centring each hole on the punch. I then just layered each strip of paper around the photo, overlapping some of the pieces, added a title and some flowers. I then jazzed up my title by adding a bling circle using my USX template as a guide.. I hate getting my circles looking wonky! Added some journalling and I was done. A very quick and easy layout to do using up your scraps.

Here it is:

Why not give it a go. Pull out your punches and scraps and away you go.

When the sun disappears for a day

The weather here in Adelaide for the last few weeks has been on and off nice and horrible. Whenever the weather is miserable with a capital "M" I tend to try and not get myself down. I am not much of a miserable weather type of person. Rain is good .. though as far as I am concerned.. NOT when I am out in it..lol.. Plus the fact that having 4 kids stuck inside when the weather is bad isn't much fun either. We are a very much outdoor family and the rain can be a real inconvenience. lol..

So for me a perfect way to get my mind off of miserable weather is to scrap photos of sunny weather. During my recent spring clean I found some photos my Mum had given me of one of there many trips up to visit me when I lived in Cairns. I popped it into a pile of photos to scrap one day. Well a few days ago the weather was one of those big "M" days.. and out came this photo to scrap. So while I was crapping I was able to transport myself to the sunny beach that my Mum was on. I was almost able to hear the waves crashing and feel the sea salt on my skin.

So here's what I came up with:

Products used:
Kimberley Poloson paper range and clear flourish stamp.
Chipboard Embellishment from Ink by Steph

I was able to give my new friend, Fiskars Scalloped Heart Squeeze punch, a work out on this layout. I am still loving this punch. I especially love using it with book paper and popping a title over the top. I even pulled out my embossing plates to dry emboss the background cardstock then lightly sanded to reveal the core colour.

Why not have a play around with some of your stash and see if you can scrap a layout about the changing seasons.

June Challenges at Scrap Around The Clock

Another month another great challenge.

Here's this months criteria:
Layout (paper/digi) - create a LO that isn't the normal square shape, so IE: circle, rectangle etc must also have the following:

1-2 photos
3 PP
staples
tearing
hand cutting
bling

ATC: Create a Friendship ATC with the following criteria:

1 PP
Bling
Friendship quote
stamping

I had heaps of fun playing around with this one. Pulled out some of my trusty faithful clear stamps and water colour pencils. Just gotta love creating your own patterned paper. Don't you just love hand cutting too.. well I do...bit of a nut that way... hand cut the flowers from a matching patterned paper and cover some chipboard to create the title for this LO. Such a fun layout too being able to create something in a different shape.

Here's what I created for this challenge :
"You" Layout -

"You" Layout Close up -

Why not head over to the forum and give this months challenge a go !
