Colour Me Happy Challenge - Day 30

Black Books

When I have a spare five minutes or I can't sleep at night I love to read. I have a nice collection of books all sitting on my bedside table at the moment crying out to be read. I don't have a set author or genre that I like to read.. just depends on my mood. These are two of the books sitting on my bedside table... Loved the Twilight series and have another book by the same author I am in the middle of (thanks heaps Michelle S for the loaners).. next is the Vampire Academy series waiting for me to get to them.

Check in tomorrow for the last of the colour photos.

Colour Me Happy Challenge - Day 29

Black Handbags

Seem to have a few of these. They just seem to collect dust around here though. I don't really use them.. what with the pram hanging bag and baby bag my stuff (phone and purse) just seem to be shoved into one of those. I can't even remember the last time I actually used a handbag.
I love handbags though really.. just with having young children it seems more of an inconvenience to carry one.

Check out what I find black tomorrow.

Orange Packet of Photo Paper

Just something that I seem to have an abundance of around my house. I seem to have so much photo paper that its not funny... I print all my own photos so have paper in A4 and 4x6 on hand all the time... no matter whether it is glossy, premium glossy, matt, canvas, photo sticker.. I have it here.. Well.... you never know what I might need to print on when I am scrapping away. that's the theory behind why I have so much anyway.. and I'm sticking to it...lol.

Almost coming to the end of our colour chasing.... I wonder what the last colour will be. Better check out the Fiskars Blog tomorrow to find out.

Yellow Pens

Not a colour I use often... but I have been using them a lot laterly on flowers. They have a real bright and cheery feel to them. Mind you I think that Kiah loves them as the yellow pens seem to be the one's she pinches to use all the time !

Colour Me Happy Challenge - Day 23

Sunny Lemons

I love lemon butter. I have also wanted to grow lemon for ages. Recently we finished off our back yard and decided to make our garden work for us rather than the other way around.

So we have planted out a vegetable patch, made a trellis of passion fruit and planted dwarf apple and stone fruits. I also wanted to plant some dwarf citrus into wine barrels. We have dwarf varieties of mandarin, orange, lime, tangelos and now lemon.

These are the first fruit we have had since we planted the lemon tree.

Colour Me Happy Challenge - Day 20

Green Outback Jack Croc Drink Bottles

Aren't they just so cute. My husband did a job recently at this place and brought a drink bottle back for all the kids. Very sweet of him.

They seem to be all over the house when the kids are home. The absolutely love them.. even Jhane, who is 11 years old.. hers travels with her daily to school!

We had to write their names on the bottom so we knew who's was who's. Which was great cause it has helped with Kiah, who is two, and seeing what her name looks like.. she checks the bottom of the drink bottles now to see if it hers.. quite cute.

Wonder what the next colour will be. Don't forget to check the Fiskars Blog tomorrow to find out.

Colour Me Happy Challenge - Day 19

Avocado on Toast

MMMMMM... I love Avocados..

I developed a taste for them when I lived in Cairns a while ago. They were sooo cheap compared to here in Adelaide that I had them every day on toast.

Now they are a real treat and I don't often get a whole one to myself to have on toast. Normally I would make them go a long way....
BUT.. while the kids are away ... Mum will have it ALL to herself!

Going Green !

You have to love the photo that you take when your out and about. The colours that you get can be amazing. Also the looks on kids face when they are free to explore and climb "that old tree" is amazing. Nothing beats fresh air and sun shine in my books.

So this layout called for the "going green" theme to me !

This paper range by Kimberley Poloson was once again my friend. I love the feel of this paper.. it works so well with so many different themes. I even got to pull out my trusty faithful Fiskars Threaded Water punch too.

Why not "Go Green" on a layout today!

Colour Me Happy Challenge - Day 18

Green Spinach

I love our vegetable patch. I just love the idea of being able to walk out my back door and doing my vegetable "shopping" so to speak. Nothing taste better than vegetable cooked not long after they are picked. Plus we don't use any chemicals and you can taste it that's for sure. Our vegetable patch is never empty. Once something finises in goes a different seasons vegetable.

I also love the fact that I can sit and think while I garden. Nothing bets the sun on your back, the fresh air and a light breeze while you solve the problems of the world.

What can you find in your part of the world today that is green.

Red and Green should never be seen !!! HAH !! says who.

Well that's what I think anyway ! As long as it is the right shades of the colours that is.

Once again I have been won over by a different colour combination. Turning the photo to B&W would have lost all the lovely bright colours in my son's top that I loved so much. When I got this paper to play with it fit perfectly.

Here's what I came up with:

Even played around with the stamp packaging that I love to keep so much. The flourish was cut out from the backing sheet that the Kimberley Poloson Stamps came on. Couldn't bear to throw them away being the mad keen scrap hoarder I am. The flourish was the perfect accent for this layout as i wanted to keep it simple.

When the Seasons Change...

We all loving visiting the family farm here in our family. The freedom that the kids have that they just can't experience anywhere else is truly amazing. I find it relaxing trying out a different lifestyle for a weekend. Getting up and feeding the cows with the tractor, taking the dogs for a run, riding on the quad bike, planting trees by the 100's, and going for long walks are many of the things that my kids do while we visit. They love being able to do all these things that's for sure. poor Nana and Pops get bombarded as soon as we arrive to take them out to visit the cows before they even say "hello" properly !

I love being able to both record what the kids enjoy about the farm plus record the many season changes that they are able to see in a different form on the farm. Being able to see the cows having calves, seeing the effect of the drought, knowing what to do when the fire season is about, and when is the best time to replant trees for wind breaks. It is different in the city as we see the season changes, but in a very different way to how they do in the country. I love the fact that my children are able to experience this.

Colour Me Happy Challenge - Day 16

Blue Fiskars Apron

Takes pride of place on my scrapbooking desk. I have a few different Fiskars aprons thought this one seems to be the one that I grab for. I have only started to wear an apron while scrapping.

My daughter Kiah now come upstairs to the scrap room to play and draw while I scrap. After a few bad texta incident's I got her a smock to wear while drawing.. seeings as how she has taken a fancy to my gel pens ! So now when she wants to draw I tell her to put her smock on.

This is how I came to wear my apron... she thought if she had to so do I... promptly get told to put my smock on when I go to scrap now ! Gotta love two year olds.

So Excited !

What does 6 dozen mini cupcakes, two dozen biscuits, 1 kg of lollies, tea and coffee, and plenty of scrapbooking supplies make up ??

Why our FIRST EVER scrapbooking crop in Ethelton, South Australia of course !

We have been kindly offered a venue to hold crops on the other side of Adelaide, South Australia by the lovely Mandy. The crop has been booked out for over a month now and I am so excited about going out to show the ladies so fun with Fiskars products. I just can't wait I am so excited. Have been madly packing things up for my trip out there tomorrow morning.

Here's a sneak peek of what we will be creating tomorrow.

Better go and finish the packing.. check in on Monday to see what else we got up to.

Colour Me Happy Challenge - Day 14

Blue Polar Fleece Snuggle Blankets

We all seem to have blankets that we like to snuggle up with while watching television. I like the idea of not having to use the heater all the time when there is a slight chill in the air... saves money and power consumption.. just doing our part.

Sometimes too when watching television its nice to just have that whole cosy feeling.. that's where the blankets come it play. It just happens to be that most of the blankets are all BLUE.. maybe my favourite colour do you think...lol

Colour Me Happy Challenge - Day 12

Purple Doll's Dress

This is the last of many things purple that I have found around my house.

This doll was given to my eldest daughter, Jhane, for one of her birthday's. We started a porcelain doll collection for her when she was little and have given her many dolls. This doll proudly sits on a wrought iron chair on our entrance niche. I see her every time I come in the front door or go upstairs. She is quite a large doll and sits here because Jhane has run out from to display her in her room.

Believe it or not the doll's hair was originally blond.. Jhane's Grandparents dyed the dolls hair so that the doll looks like Jhane. The doll has the most stunning blue eyes also.. just like Jhane does.

Wonder what the colour will be tomorrow.

H2O

Am loving this paper range by Kimberly Polson. I feel it works so well for so many different them and layouts. I have fun playing with this last last few weeks creating up a storm here in Adelaide.

Have had this photo laying on my desk for ages.. just waiting for the right paper to arrive. Do you know how hard it has been to match those colours.. YES ! I know I could have converted it to B&W though I think it would have lost something in translation.. so to speak. My son is a very vibrant and colourful person and photos of him in B&W seem to make him look very serious. This photo shows his vibrant attitude and the quirky nature of him. I also wanted to remember the bright purple and aqua blue sumo looking swim suit that we had put on him when he first wanted to learn to swim by himself. He is normally such a scrawny looking child and when he worn this swim suit he looked hilarious !

So when this paper arrived out came this photo. This photo of the layout doesn't really do it justice. The colours of the paper worked so well with it. I was even able to mix it up with using the chipboard surfboard and flourishes from Ink by Steph as it worked with theses colours too.

Why not pull out some colours you wouldn't normally use and give them a try.

Colour Me Happy Challenge - Day 10

Purple Ball

This is what I spied today when I was looking around for purple things.. Thought I didn't have much purple around but when I started too look the colour purple was everywhere.
This is Kiah's favourite ball. She love to play throw... and has a good knack of catching you off guard with it too.. like when the ball is already in mid flight!

Cinnamon Crumble Muffins

Cinnamon Mini Donuts...

Okay.. thought I would just tease you with what we have been doing this morning. Decided to get somethings made up for the kids school lunches for the next week...don't know if they will last that long though... they smell so good.

Played around with my MIL donut maker too. Had borrowed it to see if it was worth buying one myself. Well it has sat in my cupboard for the last few months and I have finally used it for the first time today. Yes.. was nice use but think I will stick to borrowing when we feel the need for some. They were really yummy though !

Cheers.. and off to get some scrapping done... fingers crossed !

Dreaming Colour

Once again playing around with the purple and green combo.

Found this photo of my eldest DD and thought I would scrap it. The colours in the photo were very basic so I picked up the colours by using this bold purple and olive green colour combination.

I love the dreamy look she has on her face. Thought it would tie in nicely with the title by journalling about all the thing I hope for her. That is she dreamt of something I am sure that she would be able to achieve anything if she tried.

Here it is:

Colour Me Happy Challenge - Day 9

Purple Rosemary Flowers

I love the herb rosemary. I love the smell and texture of the fresh herb. I am lucky enough to have it growing in my garden so whenever I want some all I have to do is walk out my back door and its there. It seems to grown like a weed here as the bush is huge. Most of all I love the really pretty purple flowers that grown on the bush. They look so dainty.

Pink and Red Combo

I think they look great together.. as long as you choose the right shades of the two colours they work perfectly.

With colour being the theme of this month I am loving mixing things up and trying colour combinations that most people would not normally try. Though when I got this Cloud (paper range they were just crying out to be mixed up.

Who says that pink and red can't be in the same layout ??

The word paper in the background was a real nice pale lolly pink (best way I can describe it really) and I had a scrap of deep red with a flourish print on it that was crying out to be used up. The photo I used for this layout had all the right colours for this photo and I feel, worked really well with it. I even got to play with my scallop heart punch again. Boy! it that punch getting a work out in this household. Even the kids seem to steal the squeeze punches !

Red Baby Capsicums

I love baby red cpasicums. They are so sweet. I also love the size as some of the family don't like capsicum much so I am able to get away with putting capsicum in things by using a little one and having no waste then (I hate throwing away food).

Sharing some Layouts...

Okay... know that I have been a little quiet on the sharing layouts front... well things have been a little crazy here and time just hasn't been on my side... Seem to finally be getting somewhere and have re-organised schedules and time for things here so that now I spend Mondays playing computer catch up in the mornings..and try and get some major scrapping done at nights when the kids are in bed... do still scrap during the day when time and kids permit..lol... bad kid moods don't make for friendly layouts..lol

So while reorganising my scrap room a while ago I found my long lost WIP album number 1.... but I am thinking that it wasn't such a good move finding it... it has about 30 LO's in there that were all precut ready to assemble.... something my brain thought would be a smart thing to do when I was pregnant !!! well that would be fine if I knew what I planning to do with the pieces I had precut... you see a darling little girl... who's so sweet that butter melts in her mouth...

Decided it would be fun to take the sketches I had labelled and what not with from my WIP folder that I had made up so I knew what was what and draw on them !!! so now I don't know where they are and what those DAMN precut pieces of paper are for...

So I have been feeling a little uninspired and had to try and create layout from what I had... here's what I managed to come up with...

So... Note to self.... NEVER leave Kiah alone in scrap room !!!!

Cheers M x
