Mad About Scrappin - Layout of the Week - Week 16

Hello again everyone.

Very excited to be back to share with you again this week. Have been very lucky this week to be able to play with a very bright and cute paper range from Echo Park called "A Perfect Summer".
When I saw this at the Mad About Scrappin's Flog It Friday Sale I was hoping that I would get a chance to play with it.

So here's what I have created for you this week.
I love the bright carefree feel to this paper range. Really makes me wish that summer was here already. I teamed my layout up with some plain paper and card stock this week as I felt the papers were bright enough as they were.
I also tried to use as many of the patterns as possible. I found the patterns so easy to work with and really help to tell my beach story.

Now I was lucky enough to also be able to play around with the sticker sheet that is also available in the range. I am not usually a sticker person. However this range made it super easy to turn some of the stickers using 3D foam table into embellishments for my layout. I love these little brown paper envelopes too. They make a cute little hidden pocket for some journal and help with the beach feel.

A tip for you too.. just because the sticker is one thing doesn't mean it has to stay that thing. Think outside the box a little! I did and with the help from a ribbon rose, some floss and a button I was able to create my own embellishment. I love the end result and the dimension it has added to my page.

Once again I haven't had to create my own title for this page thanks to a little bit of help from some scrap paper and one of the banner stickers from the sticker sheet. The best bit is that it matched perfectly with the layout with little effort from myself!

So there you go.

A summery layout created quick and easy with a little help from Echo Park and Mad About Scrappin.

Are you looking forward to summer as much as I am ?

Get creative with your stash while you wait.

Mad About Scrappin - Layout of the Week - Week 15

Morning all and welcome back to another week of me sharing on behalf of Mad About Scrappin.

This week I have continued to play around with left over bits and pieces from old kits I have had laying around the place. I have decided I just MUST use up all the little bits and pieces I have left over before I cut up any new paper.

So here's what I have created this week with some goodies I have found in the scraps stash.

Something just a little girlie that's for sure. I must say that I wasn't too sure about this lolly pink card stock I have had laying around in my stash. I think that is why it has been left over. However teamed up with some blue I feel it has completely changed the feel of the layout.

Now for this layout I wanted to create a title with a little bit of dimension that was a little bit different. So with that in mind I set to work drawing and then hand cutting  out my title from a scrap of card stock that matched. I then mounted it with using 3D foam dots onto a piece of the lolly pink card stock base that I had cut away from where you cant see it. By then added the remainder of the title using matching stickers in contrasting pink I was able to create my title with a difference.

I also decided to add a bit of stitching to the die cut doily I have used on the base. Without it I felt it was missing something. I then clustered up a pile of embellishments from another kit that just seemed to match. Added some flowers from my Mad About Scrapping Flog it Friday stash and the layout was all done.

Love the fact I have been able to use up some of my old stash and mix it with some of my new goodies. Love the fact too that I now have an excuse to buy some more from the Mad About Scrappin store. That's once I put the latest delivery of Flog it Friday goodies away though...lol.. can never have too many goodies to play with on hand.

Till next week.

Mad About Scrappin - Layout of the Week - Week 14

Back once again to share with you what fun I have been busy creating here.

This week I have tried something just a little different. With all the talk lately about using up scraps I though I would stick with the same theme and start using up some of the kits that I have partially used over the past few weeks when I was busy creating for the Royal Adelaide Show.

While sorting through these scraps I found that I still had plenty of an Authentique kit left that I had grabbed ages ago at a Mad About Scrappin Flog it Friday Sale. I had partially used the kit for a layout for the show and thought that I would have enough to get creative with it all over again.

So here's what I created.

Now... I did want a little bit of a different feel to this layout and just could seem to be able to choose which of the scraps I wanted to used for part of my base. So with that in mind I got a little creative with the scraps cutting them into random size strips ranging from 1/4" to 1" in width. Then I randomly adhered them to some scrap card stock on a slight slant across the card stock. I am quite happy with the end result. Even though I have a mix of patterns as my base because the Authentique paper range I used all colour matches it works together to create my background perfectly.

Included in this pack was a piece of muslin that I just had to use on this layout. Rather than creating flowers from it or adhering it neatly to the page, I decided to scrunch it up and adhere it underneath my photo and journal card so that a bit just poked out. I then set to work distressing it all a little. Just didn't feel that a neat edge would add to the look I wanted for this.

To finish it all off and make it a little more girlie I added in some flowers from the pack and my stash, ribbon and little bits of bling.

Had so much fun creating and using up some more of my stash I have had laying around dying to be used up.

Have you created something using an old kit that you grabbed from a Flog It Friday Sale at Mad About Scrappin ? Or perhaps you have been wondering what to do with your scraps from left over kits ?

Why not get creative with them and try something different.

Get scrapping.

Royal Adelaide Show 2013 - The Start

Before I begin I just want to say that this is a very photo heavy post and may take a bit to get through so have split it into two separate posts over two days.

Once again I have been a little on the quite front. Apart from my Mad About Scrappin posts that have been going up like clock work every week I haven't been posting about much else at all.

I can assure you that behind the scene here prior to the 29th of August it has been a flurry of paper and adhesive going in every direction.

The reason behind this I can share with you now as the results are up and the Royal Adelaide Show for 2013 is now in full swing here in Adelaide.

I have been busy creating, as I do every year, for the Royal Adelaide Show into the Open Arts and Crafts Section - Scrap booking. I really didn't think that I was going to meet deadlines this year due to personal reasons and mojo going on holidays. However thanks to much help from my Mum and Dad for the time much needed to get things sorted I was able to get all my entries done with two days to spare. I was even lucky enough to get places for a few of my entries, which surprised me considering the mad rush and what not.

So enough dribble and here is my layout entries.
